(3) Drill holes in notepads - Johnny H. to complete??

(4) Create covers October 6th at 5pm in Gore Hall

Here's the main paper for the cover. Please bring scraps that would coordinate with this paper. Thanks to Ruth Jean for donating the paper!

(5) Cut plain light color cardstock to match above paper for inside cover
. (a) 4¾" x 7¾"
. (b) give to Michelle for printing welcome message

(6) Print custom items - Michelle on 11/09/09
. (a) Print schedule
. (b) Print pre-registered names

(7) Assemble books - 11/10/09 and 11/12/09
. (a) Bring ribbons, fabric, etc. to tie cover and schedule to the notepad.
. (b) Need everything above complete

Service Project

While at CKC-Nashville, I stumbled across a pretty awesome group and thought, "This would be a GREAT service project for our group!

It is Operation Write Home.
Photobucket

This group sends handmade cards to troops around the world so that they have cards to send back to family and friends.

We will be collecting cards each month at our crop. I will send them to the volunteer shippers and they will disburse them to the troops. If you would like to do this as an individual, please feel free to do so.

Here are some basic items to remember (and they are explained better on their blog and website):

(1) No glitter - there are some items that are acceptable, so check the website for more info

(2) Themes - general is best (missing you, thinking of you, hello, love, etc.) birthday (especially children), and holiday themes.

(3) Size - Should be A2 size which is a folded size of 4¼" x 5½" Any other size needs to include an envelope

(4) Handmade ONLY - our troops LOVE choosing these cards to send to their loved ones. Please no store-bought cards

(5) AnyHero Cards - Also think about sending a thank you note to one of our troops. These are distributed to those who rarely receive mail or are in need of encouragement.

There are other guidelines and information, so please check out their website.

CKC-Nashville Trip

Rebel, Michelle, Schellye and Ruth Jean took in CKC-Nashville.

Fun was had by all. There are some great shopping opportunities to get some deals and see new things from manufacturers. There's also the opportunity for make-n-takes and classes.

As you can see, some shopped more than others! It was a great time. Hopefully more can join us next time!

Spoken too soon

Memory Miser has upped their prices by about $4 per cartridge.

However, if you buy 3 or more, there is a 10% discount and free shipping.

Now would be a good time to get together with some friends and buy some cartridges!

Tips and Techniques

Others have told me I need to write a book on little tips and techniques. Well, I'm going to post a little something at least once a week here. These will range form software, digital scrapbooking, hybrid, sales, cricut things, conventions, retreats, ways to save supplies, etc.

These are just some things that I have picked up over the last few years from a variety of friends, teachers, blogs, books, etc. If any others have some tips or techniques to share, please email them to me and I will post for you!

So here's the first tip!

**********

If you want to purchase a cricut cartridge - go to memorymiser.com (see link to the side). Most are $30. Not all cartridges are available.

Another option is to watch for classes that feature the new cartridges. These usually include the new cartridge plus some great techniques and things to do with it. Classes generally include a scrapbook layout and possibly a card.

There may be other websites that offer deals and such - the best thing to do is sign-up for the newsletters and watch for the sales! When I come across one, I'll throw it on the blog!

New Devotions

We are starting a devotion series called God's Good Gifts.

Each month, someone is assigned to lead the devotion / bible study. Throughout the month before, each member should read the "Daily Bible Readings" - but these can be weekly. There are some questions to answer on the second page that is especially geared for women.

The intent is that each person participating will create a scrapbook concerning God's Good Gifts and how it relates to your life. This can be any size, shape, page count - it's your style. However, if you do not want to create the scrapbook - that's ok too!!

Here is the schedule as I know it. I will update as I receive more info!!

Sorry about the confusion...

The wedding that was to take place at GCPC this weekend has been canceled!

So, we are cropping at GCPC (aka church!) in Gore Hall.

Our devotion this month is on God's Good Gifts - the first being "Myself". (And I don't mean me personally, I mean each individual God created!)

So, cropping starts at 5pm! Bring something to munch on and share.

Place to crop on June 19th

For whatever reason, I cannot add comments...

Scrapbook Village is available for us to crop. It is a regular Friday Night Crop that night, however Bonnie can arrange seating / tables so that we are all together.

We will need confirmations on who will be attending. Also, no babysitting will be provided that night.

I am a little fuzzy if there is a crop fee - I do not think there will be though. Also, you are under no obligation to purchase items from the store, however it is very convenient.

There is a picture machine if you need to reduce, change, resize, or just print out a couple of photos. Bonnie also has a diecut machine with a TON of dies that can be used along with a variety of punches, paints, foam stamps, etc.

So, basically we need some feedback! Where should we crop? Bonnie will need to know soon to save spots.

Next meeting

Hey fellow croppers!! Our next meeting is scheduled for Friday, June 19. We cannot have it at the church, so we can use my office which is located at 220 W. Washington Street. Turning Point Counseling. I should be there beginning at 4pm. So, anytime after that is great! There will not be a place for childcare to be provided, so we will not have it that night. Sorry! Also, WARNING!-- my office has steep steps going into it. So, you may just want to bring a special project or something instead of bringing everything. It IS hard to get stuff up the steps.

If anyone can think of another place to have it, let me know. We also need someone to provide the devotional for that night. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

CKC is coming to Nashville!

This just came out a few days ago. CKC will be in Nashville - September 11th & 12th.

This time, I'm thinking about a 2-day trip! I say this as Friday is the time to get there early and sign-up for a bunch of make-n-takes. Saturday is the day for classes and such.

So anyone that would like to attend, registration starts June 10th at noon our time. Check out the classes and event information at http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/.

Time for another outing!

Meeting Minutes - May 15th

There aren't any!!

I forgot to bring my book with the devotional and we just did not have a business meeting. We did get a "Behind the Scenes" tour of the Cultural Center!!

As we have many involved in Relay for Life, we should keep our crop night on the 3rd Friday - June 19th. However, GCPC is not available. Gayle is checking to see if the Cultural Center is available.

The REALLY good thing is the room is GREAT as a crop room - the bad thing is no place for babysitting.

So, stay tuned to find out our next crop night!

A few things...

Yes - I'm behind! Yesterday was National Scrapbook Day!! Hooray!

Our next crop is at the Cultural Center - no babysitting though. Rebel commented on the previous post.

Also, Bonnie Wilcome has invited our group to a class - Scrapbooking your faith; Fruits of the Spirit. The store is closed during the class - it is about prayer, reflection, fellowship and scrapbooking. This starts May21st (a Thursday). I will post price, time, and additional dates as I can get them. The last time she held this, it was $5 per class.

Thanks to Rebel for her help on getting pictures taken of kids for the play. Also, Jesse Carson has some wonderful pictures that I hope we can use for scrapbooking. Here's the board for the play...

Important Information

Hey croppers, Just wanted to take a few minutes to explain a few things in the April minutes.

One, we will not be able to have our crop in May at Gore Hall. So, we are in the process of finding another location. When I get a location verified, I will let you know asap. I've got a great place "in the works" but not for sure if it will work out or not.

Two, in June, our date has had to be changed. Instead of the third Friday, it will be the 2nd Friday (June 12, 2009). We had a conflict for that month as well, and this seemed the best choice. This will only affect the month of June. All other dates are scheduled for the third Friday of the month for the rest of the calendar year.

Three, we have been "organized" for almost a year now!! That's hard to believe!! One of our "officers" has to step down from her position. So, we have decided this will be a good time to reorganize. In our May meeting, we will vote for new "officers." I keep "quoting" those because I'm really not for sure what we call ourselves. Anyway, we have a chairperson, a co-chairperson, and a secretary. If any of you are interested in ANY of these positions, please let me know so I can create a "ballot" for May's meeting. Anyone that regularly attends our ministry that is not able to attend May's meeting will be given an opportunity to vote as well. So, please let me know if you are not going to be there and want to vote. That way, I can send you the info ahead of time. I know this may be very confusing (the way I've written it) so if anyone has any questions, please let me know.

Thanks to EVERYONE for being involved in this ministry. I'm so excited about how it's growing.

Rebelee

Helping with "Are You There Yet?"

If you haven't heard, the WOW kids and youth are going to be performing "Are You There Yet?" the first weekend in May.

For last year's musical the middle school and high school youth did a TON for promotions and such. They will not be able to do as much this year.

So, the Cumberland Croppers have been asked to help with the BIG board that was up with EVERY child's photo on it. It's kinda like the Homecoming one that Rebel & Andrea did last fall.

So, the first thing is to have people taking photos of all the kids. We're looking for some close-ups. This could be during rehearsal if we can do it without disruptions. We'll also need some pics of the rehearsals, dress rehearsals and during the performance also.

Keep in mind there will be lots of low light. So anyone that has an awesome camera and tripod - please help!! :)

We will complete the board the week of the performance. Time and day TBD.

If anyone is interested, please contact Michelle.

Crop Friday Night - April 17th

Just a reminder, our crop is Friday night!

A couple of items...

(1) If you have not received your shirts, they will be available Friday night at the crop.
(2) We do not have the church scheduled in May - in fact there are TONS of activities that look like they will be using the entire church. Be thinking of other locations / dates that would be possible - preferably free!! :)

Prayer items -

Two members of our group need our prayers.

Ruth Jean was in a car accident on Saturday. This had the potential for much damage as she was hit head-on. She is doing well, but still needs our prayers of healing and praise that she is doing well.

Andrea D. had a mishap at work and has some neck pain. Please pray for healing and comfort for her.

Otherwise - see you all Friday Night about 5pm!

CKC Trip Report

A great time was had by all!

Just wanted to take a minute to discuss our Saturday experience at CKC. WONDERFUL!! That sums it up!

Rebelee, Ruth Jean, Stephanie London (Calvary Baptist Scrapbooking Ministry), Frances, and Phyllis all went on Saturday. We got there bright and early and stayed thru the tornado warnings and into the late evening. It was a great day of shopping, fellowship, make and takes, and cropping.

We all wore our CC tshirts and I, personally, had several people make comments about the design and the message it sent. A couple of people said they planned to return home and discuss implementing a ministry within their church. Mission accomplished!

It was so fun to watch Phyllis and Frances. It was their first "scrapbook convention" and they were definetely taking it ALL IN! We didn't even have to talk them into staying for the crop, even if they were ALL blaming me (to their significant others). lol! ALMOST everyone won door prizes in our group as well.

I know others got to go as well and I hope they had as much fun as we did. I also hope it becomes an annual thing for our ministry to be a part of.

Rebel

**********************************************************************
I went on Friday and while I'm glad I went, I wished I could be with our group!

However, one of my Bowling Green friends was going to go alone, so then she had me. Our group grew when a couple of friends I crop with at Scrapbook Village decided to go. Then, my mom came down (surprise!) and she came along too. So it all worked out.

I could really have stayed TWO days - I did not participate in the make & takes as I was too busy shopping, eating and taking classes. :) There were some great items and so many deals!

I'm ready for next year!

Good news / Bad news

Well, the good news is that I'm going to be at CKC-Louisville, just not on Saturday. I have to be home that Saturday.

I will going up Friday with one of my BG friends - she was going to go by herself, so that works out well. It will be a long day, but a good one. We won't be home until midnight!

Shirts - PLEASE let me know by Sunday, March 15th. I won't be at church, so please email!!

I will be ordering shirts that Monday morning. That way I can have them ready for our crop night that Friday.

CKC-Louisville

So, who's ready for CKC-Louisville!! Deadline to register online is Sunday, March 8th at midnight EDT.

Original thought was to leave at 5am, but I do not have to take the early morning class. I would recommend the crop on Saturday night, but make some page or project kits in advance. It sounds like there will not be a lot of room at the crop and we want to take a few vehicles as possible. If you need help creating page kits, we can do that at our March Crop.

The crop has special deals, celebrities, games, prizes, etc. It is not a time to get a lot done, but maybe finish up some class projects too.

SO, who's with me???

Fiskars Event At Cave City

For those of you who did not attend - IT WAS AWESOME!!

We got a tone of product with each class. I learned some different techniques, got to use some Fiskars tools and of course the shopping!!

Here's a few pics of Rebel, Ruth Jean and me...

As you can see there were a TON of people there.

So, on that note - who wants to go to CKC in Louisville on March 28th? I think I would like to go on Saturday and stay until LATE!

The first class I want to take is at 8:30am (7:30am our time). Registration starts at 8am (7am). If we left GCPC at 5:00am, that would give us enough time to grab some breakfast along the way.

The crop that night is from 7pm - 11:30pm (6pm - 10:30pm). Theoretically, we could be back at church by midnight. I may have to take a nap in the van in the middle of the day though! :)

Any takers? Online registration closes March 8th!

February Meeting Minutes

Cumberland Croppers
Meeting Minutes

February 20, 2009
17 members present
Next meeting: March 20, 2009, 5:00 p.m., Gore Hall

I. Devotional
Devotion was given by Schellye Gentry. Scripture reading from 1 Corinthians 13. Devotion theme was love. God is the source of all our love. Loving God and loving other people are so interrelated that we cannot have one without the other! Love is a consequence of faith in God. When we have sufficient faith and trust in God, the Holy Spirit. Gives us the gift of love as a sign of what is to come in the Kingdom of God. Love is a divine gift that occurs only when we allow Christ to live within us.

II. Old Business
Ø Rebel opened the meeting with prayer.
Ø Child care was provided for those who attended
Ø An email distribution list was updated for communication purposes.
Ø 2 or 3 groups will be attending the “Creating Keepsakes Convention” (CKC) in Louisville on the weekend of March 27th.
Ø All members were encouraged to browse our Cumberland Croppers blog site to keep updated on current information.
Ø Michelle is organizing the finishing touches to our t-shirts. Members were asked to email her what size and shirt type they needed in hopes to have these for the CKC event.
Ø Ruth Jean discussed possible ways to compile pictures from the 50th anniversary. Creating a Cumberland Croppers photo site through WalMart was suggested and copying them to a CD for storage. The picfolio has been purchased and is ready for work.

Devotions

So I spent the weekend scrapping with some of my BG Buddies - It was a fabulous time. I'm sure it will be something similar to The Gatlinburg trip.

While I was scrapping, I created a 4-page 8x8 layout for the Gifts from God series. The first is "Myself". The cost was approximately $6.50.

I need to know if this is something the group would like to do during our monthly meetings. This would take about 1 hour to complete. Another option would be to have kits and everyone assemble on their own time.

I will scan and post pictures tonight.

Getaway Info from Rebel

Okay, based on the feedback I have received, our getaway will be to Gatlinburg. This means, we can check in on Saturday, April 18. We (mom and I) plan to stay until Tuesday, April 21--but if someone wanted to stay longer or have a family vacation later in the week that is possible. Or, if you need to leave earlier--whatever. We have the room until Fri. APril 24. It will be the same location we stayed last year--which are cabins--really cool.

We have had a fantastic response thus far and are sooo excited about it. To reserve your spot, we are asking for a $25 nonrefundable deposit. If you could get the deposit to us by February 20, that would be great.

Just as a reminder, we take the number of people that are going and divide it by the cost of the rooms. So, that could be anywhere from $34 for entire stay to $70. That's NOT a night, that's the ENTIRE time. The more people we have, the cheaper it will be.

If you have any questions about this, please email or call me.

Also, if you are interested in CKU AT ALL, the registration begins February 4 and usually sells out quickly! Mom and I have a room there as well (the event is in May) and the most that room would cost is $60 per person and could be cheaper if we get more people.

Storage Cart

Here is the cart I was looking at for storage at church. And it has come down $10.00!! (I just might get one for me too!)

The individual drawers actually remove into a carrying case. So, if we have certain projects (VBS, 50th Anniversary, etc) we can store the items in the case and take the whole thing to the table to work on.

We can start with this and see where it goes.

If everyone is ok with this, I will have it for next meeting!

Here's the link to check it out at Target:
